With August coming to a close, a new football season is upon us which once again means every team is trying to solve how to beat the Alabama Crimson Tide.
The new season also signals a new first — becoming a tailgate tourist.
CheapTickets announced it’s sending one fan on the ultimate college football trip of a lifetime with their first “Tailgate Tourist,” where one dedicated fan will travel to five NCAA Division I football games this season to get a taste of everything, from unique game-day traditions to festivities in some of the top college football towns in America.
The contest, which through Aug. 30, will allow the winner to travel with a companion to some of the top football cities in the country. The sweet gig also includes a $1,5000 ticket stipend in order to attend the games, which includes historic teams like Notre Dame, USC, Ohio State, and Texas.
“Tailgating culture is steeped in team pride and tradition, and there’s no better way to experience it than traveling to some of the best college campuses and stadiums across the nation,” said Justine McDonald, Senior Brand Manager at CheapTickets, in a press release. “Our Tailgate Tourist will join 35% of fans who said they plan to travel for a college football game this year.”
The matchups include Notre Dame at Georgia in Athens, GA (Sept. 21), USC against Washington in Seattle, WA (Sept. 28), the Michigan State Spartans at the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus, OH (Oct. 5), Syracuse against NC State in Raleigh, NC (Oct. 10), and Kansas against the Texas Longhorns in Austin, TX (Oct. 19).
CheapTickets also unveiled a new survey which found the Notre Dame-Georgia game was considered the most exciting tailgate of the season. The survey, which polled 2,000 college football fans across the nation, said they’d love to meet Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney and Alabama head coach Nick Saban the most at a tailgate. Cornhole was found to be the most popular tailgate game by 57$ of respondents.
