JUST IN: Lagosians In Fear Of Mass Death As Car Catches Fire In Traffic On Third Mainland Bridge

A car is on fire at the moment on the third mainland bridge in Lagos, Kemi Filani News exclusively reports. According to a video recorded by our correspondent, a Honda crosstour, on the side facing the island, which is believed to have overheated before catching fire. It is unclear, as at press time, if there were casualties recorded.

 

 

This is coming after a train derailed at Mangoro bus stop, Agege, bus stop yesterday, leaving many trapped. The number of casualties was unconfirmed but rescue mission responded immediately.

 

 

 

Later on in the day, LASEMA released a statement which said: “Further investigation revealed that the train derailed as a result of faulty tracks at the level crossing which has been reported by LASTMA men in the area and was noted for pending engineering works tonight. No life was lost but information gathered at the scene from the bystanders has it that the wounded victims were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical first aid. Efforts are currently on the ground to evacuate the derailed coaches as the NRC crane has been despatched to the scene from Lagos Island. The combined efforts of the GM LASEMA, LRT, LRU PARAMEDICS, LRU FIRE, LASAMBUS, FRSC, RRS, LASTMA and Nigeria Police are on ground to ensure swift recovery. Recovery operation ongoing by the officials of the Nigeria Railway Corporation.”
