Popular Igbo Businessman and Politician, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and the former Governor of Old Anambra, Chief Jim Nwobodo, were among the prominent Nigerian personalities of Igbo extract honoured with the “Ndigbo Times Merit Awards” by the Ndigbo Times Magazine.
The event held in Abuja to mark the 2018 anniversary of the Igbo magazine attracted many eminent citizens that include Chief Prince Arthur Eze; entrepreneurial guru and chairman, Slot Mobile, Nnamdi Ezeigbo; Imo State ADC governorship candidate, Lucky Ejike Chukwu.

Also included in the list are Austin Mbamah; Chike Ukaegbu; Anthony Ezekwugo; Hon. Chris Azubugo; Hon. Obinna Onwubuariri; Senator Obinna Ogba; Senator Sam Egwu; Obinwanne Okeke; Chairman of Invictus Group and Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, Chairman of Gross Group.
The Former Governor of Old Anambra State received the “Ndigbo Times Lifetime Achievement” award, while Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu got the “Ndigbo Times Icon of the Year” award.

According to Chief Dominic Onyeka Eluagu, the Project Director of the organisation, Ndigbo Times Merit Awards is an organisation that promotes Igbo Ideology. “The personalities are recognised for contributing to the growth of the South East region which has empowered many Igbos, thereby promoting peaceful coexistence.”
He added that some of the recipients had also been involved in humanitarian gestures over the years, which had promoted social peace and harmony, which was in consonance with the objectives of the organisation.

The 2018 edition of the prestigious awards cuts across over 10 categories with recipients picked from various field of human endeavours.
